Honda has launched the BR-V compact crossover/SUV in Thailand, where the production spec model had made its world premiere a few months back. It will be India's first compact SUV to offer full three rows of seating. In Thailand it comes with an option of 5 or 7 seaters, of these the 5-seater version is priced at 750,000 baht (nearly Rs. 14 lacs), while the 7-seater is priced at 820,000 baht (nearly Rs.15 lacs). Speaking of India, it is expected that the prices for BR-V will start in the vicinity of Rs. 10 lacs and it will compete majorly with Hyundai Creta along with facelifted Renault Duster and others.
Mechanically, it will be powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel. Speaking of the transmission, 6-Speed manual will be standard in both petrol and diesel models but petrol version will also come with an option of Honda’s new CVT automatic (Earth Dream Technology).
